MY FIRST CLASS!!!

Hey everyone!!! I am so excited! I taught my first hair class today!  I have to say, it was a little nerve wrecking before, but I think I have a good way of explaining things.  It went really great, we had champagne, klondike ice cream bars, muffins, if I weren't teaching the class I mos def would have came through for the SNACKS!!! Oh yeah - so the class was really great, as far as hair goes too.  I shared my experience and some of the looks at NYFW S/S 2013 and F/W 2013 with some of my co-workers.

Here's some pic's:

First look I started out with was the Jeremy Laing look for F/W 2013 (above),  I think I did pretty good.  My hair model Tania has originally super curly hair, I had her flat iron her hair as super straight as possible since that's the look we were going for.  I used Oribe's Impermeable Anti-Humidity Hair Spray and a little bit of Light Shine Spray on her ends.

Here are some pic's of the actual show backstage I did with Ramona Esbach from Oribe (below).

Second look I did was with Kien from Oribe, we did Skaist Taylor for their S/S 2013 show.  This was really fun!  Of course this was one of my favorite looks, shows and collections from NYFW.

I didn't really use much product in Meaghan's hair, she just got her hair colored so it was super fresh, which means it was super soft and silky.  I sprayed a little - and I do mean "lil" bit of Royal Blowout on her ends and some Dry Texture Spray all over, just to give her hair some grip since it seemed to keep slipping out of my fingers.  After the set was in, I flat ironed each section for a minimal time of 5 seconds, at the least, don't want to burn people's hair off.  After finger combing and brushing out Meaghan's hair, I finished her hair with some MORE (hahaha) Dry Texture Spray.  I told you that stuff is AMAZING!!! Just like I said on my Airwave/Blowdry tutorial.

I had such a great time doing this look, here at the salon (above) and backstage at NYFW.  Here's some shots from backstage (below).

How awesome are those shoes/knee high sandals?!?!?! I want those so bad!!! Those are mos def a must in my closet!

Me and my hair models, Tania and Meaghan.

Thanks so much to Kien and Ramona Esbach from Oribe, for being such an inspiration to me and bringing me on your Creative Team!  Great thanks to my hair models for today, Tania and Meaghan, and of course to my co-workers for showing up to class today and supporting my path, work and passion.

Hope this was inspiring for you as editorial hair is always for me.  Have a great week everyone!!!

BEST HAIR @ MTV MOVIE AWARDS

So the MTV Movie Awards were on last night, did you watch?  It was a little awkward with the new Pre-Show Hosts, you could tell it was their first time for most of them.  Interviews were a half second with celeb's and they didn't really talk or ask much about anything.  Anyway! Here are my pick's for best hair!

Top pick! SELENA GOMEZ

I am really diggin' her hair because she is rockin' this faux hawk hair braid!  It's done SO perfectly! It's messy, but polished on the sides, has the right amount of height in the front with the pompadour.  I love the edgy-ness of this and how it still looks hot and stylish.

Next!  KYLIE JENNER

The simplicity of her hair is perfect for the MTV Movie Awards, it's not like it's the Oscar's or anything, she kept it simple, elegant and stylish, my kind of look.  I love the whole overall look.

Next! BRITTNAY SNOW

Did Brittnay Snow get a nose job? Hmph, she's starting to look a lot like Ashley Simpson??? I think Karlie Kloss thought that's who she was! Haha! Anyway, I love the hair cut and style on her.  Again, since it's the MTV Movie Awards there's no need to get too crazy with the hair, she already has a lot going on, on her shoulders, that any big hair would probably be too much at the same time.  Clean and classy, this was a great look.

Stay tuned for another tutorial!!! Have a great week everyone!

UNSTRUCTURED BOB WITH COBY FROM ORIBE

So tonight after work we had the honor of having Coby from Oribe Hair Care come thru and show us step by step the Unstructured Bob.  This just might be my new favorite haircut.  Here's some pics of the class.

My co-worker Jale was so kind to let me use her as my hair model, granted she's been needing a real haircut for the last 2 years!! I must say, I ROCKED THIS HAIRCUT! I really loved the way her hair took to this haircut, style and look.  It was perfect for her, making her hair look and feel fuller, giving her a little more edge and still looking polished and professional at the same time.  Sorry for not having any before pic's, I just got so excited to cut her hair that I forgot.

I shampooed her hair with Oribe Ultra Gentle, conditioned with Moisture and Control (only on ends), towel dried, sprayed with Foundation Mist, followed by a couple light sprays of Royal Blowout, with one pump of Gold Lust Nourishing Hair Oil, then on the crown only I applied Rock Hard Gel, to give her some hold and volume.  Her hair is really fine and processed and these products rocked the haircut.  Finishing with some Apres Beach on the ends, Dry Texture Spray on roots and all over, then giving a little hold with the Impermeable Anti-Humidity Hair Spray.

I hope you find this as inspiring as I do!!! Have a great weekend everyone!

DO'S AND DON'T'S!!!

Okay my party people!!! Sorry for the delay in postings, it's been a really crazy weekend with watching Merrie Monarch Hula Competition, work, hula performance at AHA Mele, a good friends birthday and family.  With all of this happening, I have been coming across some really bad hair.  Here is a HUGE DON'T!  This travesty sat in front of me on my way to work the other day and I couldn't help myself.

IF you have any questions if calico looking hair is a good look for you, the answer is NO!  DON'T DO IT!!! This is all bad, where do I start?!  The hair is too warm and brassy, too strippey and way too many colors going on, the clip with the rubber band, etc. I could possibly keep going.

If you're a brunette and looking to highlight your hair, try a more softer approach.  Here is a beautiful example of Eva Mendes with soft highlights:

Eva Mendes wears this so perfectly, her hair is soft, approachable, shiny and gorgeous.  Good and Bad hair is everywhere! Please don't be a victim of "Bad" hair.  Stay tuned for more Do's and Don't's! Have a great week everyone!

QUICK FIX MESSY BUN!

I get asked all the time "how do you get your hair like that?" So here it is, my way to a quick fix messy bun.

Creating a messy bun can be pretty easy, but if you want it to look full and thick, a little back combing can go a long way.  Check out my tutorial in my DIY page! Let me know what you think!

SWITCHIN' IT UP

Looking for a change?  Thinking about switchin' it up and doing something different?  Maybe your tired of the long hair, ponytails, feeling like your hair is heavy and boring.  Why not make a change and cut some length off?  Here are some really cute, short hair styles that are being worn by some of the top ladies in Hollywood.

CHARLIZE THEREON

NICOLE RICHIE

KARLIE KLOSS

Don't be afraid to make a change, just DO IT!!! At least that way you can say, "I did it." Hair grows back, it might take a little longer for some than others, but it's a good way to feel refreshed, change up your style and look.

Who do you think wears short hair best?

Hope this inspires you!! Have a great week everyone!
